“We love Him because He loved us first”. (1 john 4:19)
He loved us first, even before the founding of the world.
He loved us first, unconditionally even when we love him conditionally (when He blesses us with something).
He loved us first, even before we reciprocated.
He loved us first, even while we wallowed in sin.
He loved us first, even before we became repentant.
It goes on and on; oh! What manner of love is this that he was slain before the founding of the world? (Rev 13:8b). It means before you came into existence, his blood was already speaking for you. You only need to believe in this fact to key in. Love!
If getting him to love us was through our good works, then, his dying was in vain because while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. For what can separate us from the love of God? Nothing! Neither life nor death can.
Why did He love in such a manner?
He is God himself.
He is Love, so He shares it without bound.
He is unfathomable, so we can’t completely comprehend.
His ways are beyond our imaginations.
He loved in such a manner to teach us the way to love because, He is the way, the truth and the life; He led the way and showed us how to love so that we can follow; that is why he loved us first.
“I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the father except through me” (John 14:6).
God is love, and those who live in love live in union with God and God lives in union with them.(1John4:16b)
He emptied himself into us that we may know love and he took our sinful selves that we may also show love.
God’s love for us is just simply amazing and our little minds can’t just completely fathom.
If God love us in such a manner, there is nothing too hard for him to do for us. Ask! Believe!
Dear friends, if this is how God loved us, then we should love one another. (1 John 4:11); for he cannot disown us who are part of his body (2Timothy2:13b) so, why disown others by refusing to love them when God accommodates us in totality?
Let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. whoever loves God must love others also.(1John4:7,8b,21b)
Remember, our union with God is made perfect when we love others (forgive wrongs, give alms, pray for one another, withhold grudges etc. That is obedience to the word of God.) and when love is perfect, blessings know no bound!
