“I’m human and I have every right to be wrong” is a sentiment strongly held on to by some of us believers and is a tool the devil is using to promote obstinacy in sin. We all make mistakes but a mistake that keeps being repeated is not a mistake, it’s a choice.

Only by true repentance and a deliberate life of holiness can our gift of salvation be guaranteed. Don’t be carried away by a one-off exercise of accepting Jesus and surrendering to him. Salvation is a journey and not just a state. Our salvation begins with our acceptance of Jesus’ reign in our lives, it continues with our daily submission to his supreme will and will be perfected when we get to see him face-to-face at the close of age.
Don’t be deceived, don’t imagine that God’s standards would be lowered because of who you are or what you’ve done. He’s not a respecter of man.

Do not assume that being in the church is the same as being in Christ. You may go to church eight times in a week; you may fast for forty days and nights; you may even teach or do works of wonders in Christ’s name and still be found wanting of admittance into heavenly bliss on the final day (Mt.7:21-23). A saint in Babylon is better than a sinner in zion.

●●●TIPS FOR LIVING THE NEW LIFE●●●

■ REPENTANCE: True repentance is that borne out of love of God rather than the fear of punishment for our sins. Jesus still stands at the door of your heart, knocking. He stands with arms and heart opened wide waiting to receive you. He loved you long before you even loved him. Run to the merciful Jesus NOW!!!, run to the ocean of mercy while there’s still time. Offer on while stock lasts. Remember that the era of mercy would soon be overtaken by the era of judgement.

■ FORGIVENESS: After obtaining pardon at the foot of the cross at calvary, we must forgive ourselves; we must stop remembering what God has forgotten (Ps. 103:12). Remember, it was he who said “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 Jn.1:9) and that he’d “forgive our wickedness and will remember our sins no more” (Heb. 8:12).
Your past is necessary. God delivered you out of what you’d deliver others from. Just invite him and let him turn your MESS into a MESSAGE.

■ PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR: Do you take a knife for a gun fight? Your own strength has and will continue to fail you. The battle is not against flesh and blood and as such your weapons cannot be carnal. Since we are not ignorant of the devices of the devil, we ought to appropriately arm ourselves for battle. St. Paul in Eph. 6:10-20, urges us to put on; the helmet of SALVATION, the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, the shield of FAITH, the belt of TRUTH, shoes that quicken us to SHARE THE GOSPEL OF PEACE and the sword of the spirit; THE WORD OF GOD.
We are also reminded to pray without ceasing and be vigilant so that we are not caught unawares.

Remember, he has given you all the weapons you need but it’s still a battle; you must FIGHT!!! The sword is only useful in the hands of a warrior.
It is a combination of earthly efforts magnified by heavenly grace.

■ KNOW JESUS: Since Jesus is the ONLY way, every other path leads to eternal destruction; hence we must truly know Jesus. Knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Jesus. We require not just a head knowledge (intellectual knowledge) of Jesus, we more importantly require a heart knowledge (experiential knowledge). Knowledge of Jesus comes from the word of God and the revelation of the Holy Spirit.

The primary purpose for our creation is a true knowledge of God resulting in our heart-deep love and lifelong service in his Kingdom.

■ SPIRITUAL CIRCUMCISION: Those parts of us which are unnecessary for the journey must be cut off by spiritual circumcision. We must let go of unnecessary baggage. Remember that no companionship on earth is worth as much as fellowship in heaven. Anything that will hinder you from the kingdom must be cut off. We must be free from sin. Is that even possible? Being sinless starts by sinning less and is perfected by the cleansing blood of Jesus. Don’t surrender part of your heart to him, give him your whole heart. Remember that the Lord will not take over what you don’t handover to him.

■ BE RENEWED DAILY: While basking in the euphoria of this new life, we are expected to be renewed daily by the help of God’s Spirit or else, that which was once new would end up becoming old.

CONCLUSION:

Refuse to lose diamonds while chasing precious stones, refuse to trade your birthright for a plate of porridge, refuse to sell your soul for the price of the ephemeral gifts of the world.

The Christian journey is summarized as; PARDON at Calvary 》》 POWER of Pentecost 》》 PERSEVERANCE all the way 》》 PARADISE in heaven.

What is most important in our Christian journey, is not how many storms in life we encounter and successfully negotiate, but whether we bring the ship safely into harbor. Don’t give up, stay on course, finish the race, endure to the end.

When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.

Vive por mi, yo mori por ti (Live for me, I died for you).

Udo diri unu (Peace be with you).
